Google Presentations Released

October 17th, 2007 | Category: Mobile Applications,Technology News

Google has added Presentations to the Google docs family. It’s quite good for people like me who are gmail users and sometimes can’t be bothered loading up a separate application for the slide show, and just have it load up in another tab. Basically Presentations is an online application that allows you to view Powerpoint files as a web page, which is quite handy particularly if you tend to check your mail on the go, and I know it’s rare, but not every computer has powerpoint.

Personally I think it’s great that we’ve finally moved to an online suite that allows us to do our work online. It allows us to be able to do any work we like anywhere in the world. Running on servers that are more reliable than our home computer, which decreases the chances of data loss, and allows you to have it backed up in a reliable place, and also allows you to back up on to your local computer or to a flash drive. Speaking from personal experience, I’ve been caught in a situation where my computers drives malfunction and I have a document to print and am unable to print it because it is stuck on a computer with no way of getting it off. This was prior to the Internet days I know, but it is good knowing that there is a good chance I’ll never have to worry about that again.

This is one of my one of my favourite online games. It’s called ramps. Basically you have to get the ball into the trash can.

Spybot Search and Destroy Vesion 1.5

October 17th, 2007 | Category: Software

Spybot Search and Destroy is now updated to version 1.5. There is quite a significant difference between this and the previous versions. I highly recommend this software, and have for years now, as it is free, and very good.

OpenMoko Open Source Phone

October 17th, 2007 | Category: Gadget

It’s now available to buy, the OpenMoko open source phone. Now you have a few questions, one may be, what is an open source phone? It’s a phone who’s entire software base is free. Nothing special right? Wrong, it means that ANY applcations you get for it are free, and for those of you who understand programming, you are able to hack and mod your software, however you want. There is also a developer pack that comes with screwdrivers and a debugboard and comes in a “Ruggedised Toolbox”. Ok so far nothing for the general user? How about a fully functional PDA phone, with the following features:

  • 2.8″ VGA TFT color display
  • Touchscreen, usable with stylus or fingers
  • 266MHz Samsung System on a Chip (SOC)
  • USB 1.1, switchable between Client and Host (unpowered)
  • Integrated AGPS
  • 2.5G GSM – quad band, voice, CSD, GPRS
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • Micro SD slot
  • High Quality audio codec

It’s priced at US$300 for the base model, and US$450 for the advanced one. No contracts, no other rubbish usable in nearly any country in the world, on any carrier. Now to me that sounds like a pretty sweet deal.

It also comes with GPS inbuilt.

Now it is actually better than it sounds because it isn’t 100% functional yet, and there still is some problems, thus why it is still in it’s developer stage. So I’m not saying you should go buy it now, but do keep an eye out for it.

Hitman Movie release dates

October 17th, 2007 | Category: Movies

For those who are familiar with the coolest guy in gaming, Agent 47, the release dates for his movie Hitman, are out. I personally am a big fan of the game series, and cannot wait, and some of the scenes shown in the trailer (viewable on the official site, a second trailer is posted below), seem to be straight out of the game, so I’m counting down the days.

North America: 21 November 2007
Australia: 6 December 2007

The full list of worlwide release dates can be viewed here.
